How to use PE protective film correctly?

Announcer: BaiLiChuang    Time:12/20/2019 5:14:31 PM

PE protective film is as easy to use as a tape. However, as the width and length of the protective film strip increase, the difficulty factor will also increase a little. The difficulty of handling a 4-foot-by-8-foot tape is different from the difficulty of handling a 1-inch-by-4-inch tape.

A bigger challenge is to make a large piece of PE protective film perfectly aligned with the target surface, and then put it down, without any unsightly wrinkles or bubbles on the surface, especially on the surface of irregular products.

In order to better stick the protective film on the surface of the product and make it as perfect as possible, we need at least two people. One person holds the protective film reel, while the other pulls the torn end to the other end of the product to be protected, pastes the end onto the target surface, and then manually presses the protective film into place, facing the person holding the reel. This method has high labor intensity and low working efficiency, but the working effect is quite good.

Another way to manually apply a large piece of PE protective film to a large piece of material is to apply the material to the film. The following describes a relatively simple method of applying a large (4.5 x 8.5-foot) surface armor to a 4 x 8-foot material. You will need a roll of double-sided tape and a knife. (Note: the problem material should be able to tolerate a certain amount of processing, so that this method can run successfully. )

How to attach the protective film perfectly to the product surface:

1. Prepare a suitable large and flat work space - larger than the object to be protected - clean and free of dust, liquid or contaminants.

2. Apply 4.5 feet of double-sided tape around each end of the workspace... About 8.5 feet apart. These will be used to hold films, not to protect materials.

3. With the adhesive facing up, unfold a small section of protective film. Make sure it is smooth and wrinkle free, and stick the loose end evenly on one of the double-sided tapes.

4. Continue to unfold the protective film and place it along the length of the working surface not far from another double-sided tape.

5. Now, roll up the film and put it on it, over the double-sided tape. Take care not to pull the original end of the connection out of the tape, adjust the direction of the film, make sure that the film is straight, without wrinkles, and properly tightened, but not too tight, so that the film will contract later. (when the film is stretched in use, when the film attempts to return to its original shape, the edge tends to pull up. )

6. Lower the film onto the second double-sided tape.

7. Using a knife, cut the drum from the film that is now waiting to receive the sheet to be protected.

8. Place one edge of a piece of material on one end or one side of the protective film. Place it where the film is held by double-sided tape.

9. Gradually place the parts on the adhesive film. Note: if the material is flexible, when you place it on the film, bend it slightly to roll it up and allow air to escape between the material and the film.

10. To ensure that the sheet adheres to the film, apply pressure to the material, especially along all edges, to ensure good adhesion. Clean paint rollers may be used for this purpose.

11. Trace part of the contour on the protective film with a knife, and cut off the redundant film. Remove the extra and handle it.

12. Carefully turn over the part, if necessary, apply pressure directly to the film, and work from the middle to the outside to ensure good adhesion of the whole area.

13. Check that one piece is complete without wrinkles.

For mass production, it is recommended to use a machine commonly known as a laminating machine to apply the protective film. This is particularly useful when both sides of the paper need to receive a protective film, as the machine can be applied to both sides at the same time.
